Advancement of 3D Animation Industry

Animation; the term gives an instant thought of cartoons and films based on computer graphics but prior to this a technique called Phenakistoscope was there which had simple drawings which moved simultaneously giving the effect of animation. There were several animated features created by using these drawings which differed from the previous one. This method disappeared by the end of the twenty first century and drawings were directly scanned or drawn into computers. The computer animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. 3D animations give the impression to look at characters from all angles like in real life. It can be grouped under various terms:

Cel-shaded animation:

It is also called cel-shading or toon shading which is designed to make the computer graphics to look as if hand drawn. It is used to copy the style of a comic book or cartoon characters.

Morph target animation

It is stored as a series of vertex positions. In each key frame of the animation the vertex will move to a different position. This can be used for animating cloth, skin and facial expressions.

Skeletal animation

This is also referred to as rigging and is an technique for the vertebrates. This technique works by constructing a series of bones and each bone is associated with some portion of characters visual representation.

Motion capture

It is a procedure for digitally recording the action movements. It can be used in video games to animate the characters of the game and in film making it refers to the technique of recording the action of human actors.

Crowd simulation

It is the process of reproducing the movement of a large number of objects or characters and used when there are more characters than that can be animated using the other methods.

The industries that are using 3D animations are interior designing, medical visualizations, architecture naval architecture and corporate presentations. There are several interactive 3D animation software that enables one to visualize and redesign a room. These are used by architectures for designing homes for their clients. This can be used in medical field training for explaining various concepts, phenomenon and surgical techniques to give a better and clear vision to the scholars. Then in naval field it is used in designing of ships by making a 3D ship model which helps in quick progress of ship building projects. In corporate world too it is used for preparing impressive presentations and interactive websites.

The 3D animations are very realistic and are used for giving special effects in movies. The film and advertisement sectors provide ample opportunities for the growth of animation industry. The employments of computers and software's have fastened the pace of animation industry. The growth of its use in gaming industry has made it a fast growing and dynamic field. To provide an in depth description of product we now no longer depend on still images, 3D animation is the answer to create an interactive environment where an individual can relate to the objects and enjoy the virtual world created around him. We can say that with its diversity and effectiveness has left no field untouched by its impact.

At EMS-USA we offers 3d scanning software and reverse engineering software. We also offer 3d scanning, reverse engineering and rapid prototyping services involving both on-site and off-site engagement models.

Video Game Design - Do You Have These In - Demand Skills?

If youre an avid video gamer and while sitting at home playing your favorite game, you think to yourself, I could do this better, video game design might be the perfect job for you someday. But there are some key skills youll need to have before you can enter the field and truly make an impact on the video game market. Here's a description of the most important ones.

Programming

Everything you see in a video game is boiled down to 0s and 1s, the basics of programmers everywhere. If you decide to aim for this job, youd better start early. Programming is the building block of any good video game design job. If youre great with numbers, better with details, and dont mind spending long hours staring at a computer screen looking for a missing line of code, programming is a great place for you in video game design.

Youll need to learn a combination of three to five different programming languages to be really successful in this job, so youd better be prepared for a lot of work. While C++ is the groundwork for any programming job, youll also be learning Java and Visual Basic to supplement it.

Most video game design uses a combination of whatever works in a given situation to get the job done. If youre in high school though, interested in a job in video game design and programming, you should try your hardest to take courses in or learn C++ as preparation.

Story Writing/Game Theory

For every good video game, theres someone (or many someones) whose job it is to write the story and develop the ideas for the game. You might think this sounds simple, having sat in your basement telling your friends how much better you could do at writing the ending for a particular game. But theres just as much schooling to get a job writing or brainstorming ideas in video game design as coding.

For writers, youd better get a decent degree in creative writing or English. Most video game design jobs require at least a Bachelors degree in English to apply for a story writing job. Second, they want experience, so start early, working on projects in school, taking specific courses in Game Theory and developing long story lines for use in video game design projects.

Your job will be writing dialogue, script and concepts for a massive world with hours of interaction. Youd better have a decent idea of how youre going to do that.

Computer Animation

The face of video game design, the job that everyone thinks of when they envision their future designing video games, is computer animation. First off, youll need to still learn the programming languages of your programming coworkers. This job requires a lot of different skills, many of which are programming languages. So C++ had better be on your resume along with Maya, 3DS Max, and a handful of other image rendering mega-software.

Video game design courses are perfect for the potential Computer Animator as well, as youll learn how to operate vast, high tech computers and machinery and utilize the newest software in doing so.

Computer Animation requires not only the technical expertise of a programmer, but the visual, artistic mastery of a story writer or sketch artist. This job requires the best of both worlds in the video game design industry.

There are plenty of jobs for all different skill levels in video game design. If youre capable of writing a good story, drawing a decent picture, or remembering vast strings of numbers, you can find a job in game design. Its all about where youll best fit in.

BONUS TIP: If you're just starting out and want to get your foot in the door in the video game design industry, you might want to become a video game tester first. Learn more by grabbing your FREE report for potential video game testers right now at: http://www.BeAGameTester.com

6 Reasons For Making Power Off the Grid

With the fast exhaustion of non-renewable resources, the shortage of power, the need for a reliable electricity supply and daily alerts of global warming, it is time we make a change.

So, where shall we start?

How about making your power off the grid? If you never thought of doing such a thing, you should know that there are many reasons for making your own power off the grid. They are:

1 - Reduced Power Costs:

By making your own renewable energy, you no longer have to rely on the utilities for power. And since you no longer get power off the grid, your electricity costs will reduce substantially. And once you have recovered your investment in your solar or wind power system, you essentially get unlimited free power.

2 - Lowers Your Carbon Footprint:

Making power off the grid requires the use of no coal or fossil fuels, but rather clean energy from the sun, wind or water. So, as you make more power off the grid, you reduce carbon emissions, and lower your carbon footprint. This promotes a cleaner, greener earth for current and future generations.

3 - Reduced dependence on decreasing resources:

Who really wants to depend on public utilities? Imagine if you never had to face a power outage again? This is very possible when you make and store your own power at home. It helps you take control of your power needs, without having to rely gas, coal, oil, nuclear and other non-renewable resources used by the utilities.

4 - Unlimited, free use of natural resources:

Just picture using as much power as you could, without worrying about excessive utility bills? Well, by making power off the grid, this could be a reality. You can use unlimited free power from the sun and wind to power and heat your home, heat your water and cook your food, without worrying about it running out.

5 - Systems can become portable:

What's nice about renewable energy is that the system can be made portable. As technology develops, thin-film solar modules are lightweight, flexible and durable enough to be taken with you when traveling. When camping, portable black solar bags can be used to heat water for purification or for showering, and solar cookers can be used to cook a variety of meals.

6 - Affordable to get started:

With the help of various guides and diy manuals, it is very easy and cost-effective for anyone to learn to make their own solar or wind power system from simple parts found around the house or the local hardware store. Instead of spending several thousand dollars on professional solar or wind systems to make your own power off the grid, it can cost you well under $250 if you make and install the systems yourself.

With these six reasons, there is no excuse for you not to make your own power off the grid. Which would you rather choose:

a) Reducing your electricity consumption by using tedious saving power techniques OR
b) Making your own power, and never worrying about how much you use.

We and many other chose option b) and have never looked back since. So enjoy the abundant, free power that nature provides and start making your own power off the grid.

Tim McDonald and his wife have been living off the grid since June 2008. If you want to learn to make your own power off the grid and save thousands on your electricity bills, then Try Earth4Energy For FREE, before you go out and start any renewable energy project.

Lauren Conrad Collection Ashlee Dress

Lauren Conrad is one of the hottest fashion icons on the market right now. She hit the big time as the star of MTV's Laguna Beach and has become even bigger with her reality show The Hills. Her collection, the Lauren Conrad Collection, hit stores early 2008 and has already become a hit. For her holiday collection she's taken her line to the next level with super cute Ashlee Dress. Keep reading to find out more about it.

The Lauren Conrad Collection Ashlee Dress (spelled with a double , not the traditional Ashley) is a one shoulder knee length cocktail dress. As all fashionista's know, this fall asymmetry is all the rage, which is why it was terribly smart for Lauren to make the Ashlee Dress only sit on one shoulder. But it's not like your typical one shoulder dress, this one has a heart shaped neck line, making the dress really stand out. And it's built like a tube dress, so one doesn't have to worry about the other side falling down.

Lauren Conrad loves this dress so much that she's been seen on more than one occasion wearing it. She wore the black one with a skinny belt, and she also wore the Ashlee dress in red to a pet event, pairing it with a slightly wider, bow belt. She accessorized the black one with black slingbacks and an oversized light blue clutch, which was an interesting choice. This look was also featured in US Magazine, showing girls how they can get the look. Lauren wore the same shoes with the red Ashlee dress.

The Lauren Conrad collection can be found at a variety of boutiques on the web in a wide array of colors. The Ashlee dress retails for $198.

Tips for Creating a Great Character Design I

Whether be it for games, comics, animation or merchandise, we cannot ignore the fact that good character designs play an active role in driving the sales of the product in question. While good character designs help to drive sales, great character designs grow companies and even shape the landscape of the creative industry. This is the first of 3 articles dedicated to the topic of creating great character designs and some tips to bear in mind when designing your characters.

The Core Product

What is the core product or platform which your character will be appearing on? Where will the character be seen and in what medium? This will directly affect how you should design your character, as different products will have different presentation platforms. Ideally your character should translate across several platforms to maximize its licensing potential.

Target Demography

What is your core product's target audience? Have you considered the traits and personality that will appeal to the target audience and not only makes sense in the game, but also gives the game play a boost? Characters aimed at young children, for example, are typically designed around basic shapes and bright colours.

Licensable and Merchandisable

When designing your character, always bear in mind its potential for licensing and merchandising. It is no good if your character has limited potential to be exploited. Ask yourself these questions: Is your character charismatic as merchandise? What kind of merchandise can your character be made into? What kind of merchandise would look good with your character on it? How many different categories of merchandise can your character lend itself to?

Distinct, Different and Visually Impactful

Is your character design unique? With so many characters out there on the market, you need to ensure that your character stands out. Your character needs to be strong and interesting in a visual sense to get people's attention. Take the Simpsons for example - the characters' unusually bright yellow skin colour is an immediate attention grabber. Do a thorough check and be perfectly honest with yourself. Does it look distinct and different enough or does it look like something out of another game or animated series? If it even remotely resembles something else on the market, chuck it away and go straight back to the drawing board! Do not hesitate!

The Lead and the Followers

Do ensure that you differentiate your lead characters well from the supporting characters. It would be a tragedy if your lead character blends so much into the supporting cast that he fails to stand out. Even if all your characters look great, a potential licensee may end up being spoilt for choice because all your characters look great but your lead doesn't look extra great! Licensees lose interest quickly when licensing your characters becomes too complicated for them.

How To Draw People - How To Use Proportions When Drawing People

Before you can draw a human figure with clothing, muscles, shading, etc., it is necessary to understand the basic proportions of the human figure. Proportions on a figure are simply how long the major anatomical parts of the body are, in relation to each other.

Lets examine the proportions of a healthy male human figure. Proportions change based on body type, age, sex and activity level. Our example healthy male figure will be seven heads tall. As a foundation, lets start with these lengths that are all the same. Each of them are two heads long.

1. From the middle of the kneecap to the bottom of the foot

2. The head of the femur to the kneecap

3. The elbow to the tips of the extended fingers

4. From the collarbone to just below the belly button

5. The width of the chest from shoulder to shoulder.

Tip #1 - The width of the hips is the same as the distance from the crotch to the knee.

Tip #2 - The length of the arm from the pit to the tip of the extended fingers is the same as from the base of the neck to the bottom of the buttocks.

Tip #3 - The arms should hang with extended fingers, to the middle of the thigh.

Tip #4 - The elbow should rest parallel with the bottom of the rib cage.

Tip #5 - The size of the foot should fit in between the base of the palm and the pit of the forearm.

Tip #6 - The hand from the base of the palm, to the tip of the fingers should fit on the face, from hairline to chin.

These proportions are critical to learn if you want your figures to look convincing. The reason this is essential is that you cannot place a bone or muscle group on a figure and have it be the wrong length without making your drawing stand out because it will look off.

What is Organic Dog Food?

Since the dog food recalls of 2007, most dog owners have become very aware of the need to study the dog food labels more stringently. Many have switched to making their own dog food, with many more switching to organic dog food. But what is it? How is it classified? In this article, I will explain what organic food for dogs is all about and the different guidelines necessary to be labeled that way.

National standards for organic dog food were set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture in 2002. Not only do the stringent guidelines apply to dog food, but also any food that wants to be labeled organic. In the paragraphs below I describe these guidelines.

Organic dog food is produced without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or sewage sludge. It also has no GMO grains or irradiation. Dog food and the ingredients used are produced by farmers committed to the use of renewable and the conservation of soil and water for a better environment now and for the future.

The farms that produce the ingredients for this type of dog food must be free of all contaminants for a minimum of three years before they can be classified as an organic farm. As far as meats, poultry and dairy products are concerned, they must come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones and are fed organic, pesticide free grains.

Before an organic dog food can be classified as such, a USDA approved certifying agency must inspect the farms where the food is grown or raised in order to make sure each are adhering to all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Even the companies that process the dog foods must also be USDA certified.

Plasma Television - It's a Gas

You can easily get overwhelmed by be the wide array of television sets that are now available if you want to shop around for a television set. In this day and age, there are a lot of state of the art television sets from the Asian region. There are also innovative display systems like liquid crystal display televisions and plasma televisions in the present market.

The cathode ray tube technology is the technology that is used in the tried and tested conventional televisions that most of us have grown up with. A cathode gun forms an image on a glass screen by charging and firing electrons on the screen. These images form as pixels in the three basic colors, which can produce millions of colors when combined. This technology has been fine tuned and developed through the ages to give us great television monitors. However, there are certain limitations to what the conventional cathode ray tube television can do.

For example, the screen of the cathode ray tube or conventional television has a size limitation because it is built of glass. Most conventional televisions which use the cathode ray tube technology are less than 42 inches in size. This size is the diagonal distance between from one end to the other and not the height or width of the television. This means that the biggest conventional television you can have is around 42 inches. Conventional televisions are also bulky, restricted in image size and confined to the limitations of the box they are built in.

Newer display technologies have resulted in better, modern televisions like the plasma television. The older cathode ray tube technology has been left behind in favor of an atomic technology in modern televisions. Our viewing experience has been enhanced by our ability to manipulate and control the behavior of atomic particles. This is the technology that is being used in a plasma television. A plasma is a gas that contains freely flowing ions and electrons. Photons are released and provide illumination when an electric charge is passed through this plasma.

This illumination is used by the rest of the technology in plasma televisions to create the three primary colors and to display them as images. This modern television also varies the intensity of the illumination to produce color changes in the same way the cathode ray tube televisions use different intensities of particles to produce different colors.

Most of the drawbacks of the conventional television are negated in the design of the plasma television. Size is no longer a restriction because the bulky cathode ray tube is not being used. The plasma television is also very thin so bulky boxes are not required. These days, most plasma televisions appear more or less like works of art hanging in your living room.

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning Plasma Television. Visit our site for more helpful information about Disadvantages of Plasma Television and other similar topics.
