An Introduction To Home Remodeling Software

Thanks to the personal computer and inexpensive home remodeling software what used to be an expensive time consuming task that often involved a professional to create blueprints or technical drawings can now be done easily by anyone in the comfort of their own home. Did I mention that its a lot of fun too?

Home remodeling software can be found wherever computer software is sold and is very reasonably priced. You can sometimes get a basic package free at Comp USA when they have an in-store 100% rebate promotion so check any flyers you might get in your paper or the mail and you could save yourself some money.

Using a remodeling software package is the ultimate in power and flexibility as any changes can be made instantly with a click of the mouse and with a wide range of products to choose from there will be a version that will be just what you need to get your remodeling project started.

Common features of remodeling software include the ability to do a virtual walkthrough, 2D and 3D views of your project and cost/budget estimators. The ability to drag and drop items is also standard and allows you to easily rearrange furniture in a room or move a door or window.

You can also count on having professionally designed examples you can use as is or modify to suit your needs. Some will even print out a list of materials required to complete the project and most have video tutorials to help you not only learn how to use the software but also teach you basic design skills.

There are several categories of home remodeling software available today with some packages bundling everything together into a total home design package:

Home Architect/Floor Plan

These packages will allow you to create a simple remodeling plan or even an entire new house from scratch. Using 2D and 3D views you are able to look at your plan from any angle and even zoom in and out. The software is so detailed that you can choose from thousands of design elements like windows, doors, cabinets and countertops. If it can be found in a house chances are a package like this will have it as an option. This package is ideal for entire home building or remodeling projects.

Interior Design

With an interior design package you can see how different wallpaper or paint will look in a room or how different countertops can change the look of your kitchen. You can move furniture around easily and view your rooms from any angle or height. Some remodeling software will also let you simulate sunlight coming through windows so you can see the effect it will have on a room.

These packages are typically filled with brand name furniture and appliances so you can see exactly how a particular model will look in your home. They often include carpet samples, fabric swatches and window treatments that can be changed by simply dragging and dropping. You can literally repaint a room in seconds to any color you want and quickly change it back again if you desire.

Often video tutorials will give you super ideas on how to coordinate colors and pick complimentary furnishings for a room for a professionally designed look.

Landscaping & Garden

Starting from professionally designed landscapes and gardens templates you can add things like fences, bird feeders, benches and statues. You can choose from thousands of trees, shrubs and plants and place them wherever you want and even include sprinkler systems.

Many styles like Japanese or water gardens are included to stimulate your creative juices and some landscaping software will even simulate seasonal changes and plant growth so you can see how your yard or garden would look 5 years from now in the fall.

Specialty packages like Deck or Kitchen and Bath design

With deck design software you can plan your dream deck using popular designs or create your own. Choose from a variety of deck materials and building styles and even place deck furniture on your virtual deck to see how it will look once its built. Some packages will print out a shopping list detailing the amount of lumber and hardware required to build the deck.

Like other home design or remodeling packages but geared for a specific room like a kitchen or bath these packages usually have many more options available than the general home based packages. You will have access to every possible kitchen appliance, cabinet, countertop, sink, shower, bathtub, etc. along with wall and floor coverings and lighting fixtures.

Any one of these types of home remodeling software packages will do a good job for you and can be used over and over again as you dream up new projects for your home. If you are planning on a specific room project you might want to consider a package designed for that room type (like a kitchen) but if you think you will have future remodeling projects spending a little extra for a home remodeling package might be worth it. At the very least you can have fun planning your dream house with the home version.

How to Burn PS3 Games Successfully

So you want to know how to burn ps3 games? Well this article may help you out. You see there are a couple of ways in which you can burn your ps3 games but they both methods vary in complexity. One method requires you do download and install several different software applications in order to get a successful copy of your ps3 games, while the other requires one install and is basically a one step operation.

The benefit of downloading the several application methods is that it is free, all the suggested software that is need is free although depending on what operating system you use some of these software applications may indeed conflict with your PC which means that you won't be able to follow through with the whole process. You will also have to launch several different applications one after the other in order to get to the final stages of burning the ps3 backup so this method is time consuming.

The other method requires purchasing software but the benefit of this is that it's a one step process and all you need to do is launch the one application and it will basically do the rest. With this method all you need to do is place your original ps3 games into your DVD burner, launch the software application, press a button and away it goes. The software will then start building an image of the game and once it's finished it will let you know so you can insert your blank media into the PC and burn yourself off a copy of your game.

Of course the whole benefit of burning your Ps3 games is that you can use the backup copies and safely store away the original ps3 game where it will be safe then if you somehow scratch or damage your backup then all you need to do is burn yourself off another copy. If you were to scratch your original Ps3 games then it would be unplayable and you would have effectively just wasted $100 on a game you can't play, tragic!

To find out more about this software to burn ps3 games come and visit our site below.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a 3D Printer

The 3D printers turn the CAD designs into three dimensional objects within no time. It is the least expensive rapid prototyping system available. The factors responsible for choosing a particular 3D printer largely depends on a variety of reasons for which the printer will be used. The printers can be checked for their form, feel, fit and the functionality or the blend of these features which vary according to the users and their work supplies.

The fact to be considered is that the feedback of the printers should be high as it is required for the fast production of the models. It should be considered that the printer can produce a number of production quality products which can be used and not just serve the purpose of examination. The sizes of a printer are various; some are small enough to be conveniently used in the offices rather than the plant floor. So a user can choose the printer according to the usage. The process of prototyping involves the use of toxic chemicals which can be automatically recycled by some printers, so the customer should choose the printer as per his advantage and resource usage.

The end result of the printing or the objects final surface finish is decisive about the popular printing processes. There are color printing options available from various companies which can be opted if colored printing is a constraint. There are printers available for varying resolutions. It can be said that printing systems offer different modeling necessities. The choice depends upon the objective of the potential users or the customers.

Engineering & Manufacturing Services Inc (EMS) is one of the leading supplier of Z Corporation and 3D Printers like ZPrinter 310 Plus, Z50 full Color 3D printers and Spectrum Z510 3D Printers.

Cost Factors of Forensic Animations

In the past, many companies were quoting animations based on a dollar per second rate for finished footage and there appears to be a trend away from this method of pricing. Part of the reason is that the amount of work involved in producing one second of animation can vary enormously depending on what is required and the level of realism. The advances in computer visualization technology available today are mainly responsible for the widening gap between what was possible and what is possible today.

The best thing one can do is educate themselves on what parts of the animation process are the most time intensive and where they can expect to pay the most (or least) for the requirements.

Below is a breakdown of several cost factors that are "tangible". As with any outsourced service, you also pay for reputation, experience and overhead costs, but these are more difficult to quantify. The greatest cost in a forensic animation is the number of man-hours required to prepare, assemble, edit and finalize the animation. Since vehicle collisions are the most common forensic animations, most of the examples used below will reflect this particular example, however, the process and cost factors are more or less the same regardless if the animation being produced is of a crime scene, personal injury case, or medical procedure.

1. Information Gathering and Preparation

During the initial stages of a forensic animation, it is imperative that the animator be brought up to speed on the details of the case. This often means that all photos, video, drawings and reports must be provided to the animator and they must subsequently go through all the materials of the case. Initially, it is helpful to bring the animator into the initial discussions about the trial strategy and what is the objective of the animation. Further, it is useful to have the animator contact the accident Reconstructionist as applicable to go over details of the accident report and if there will be any transfer of other data such as a digital site survey or simulation data.

Where applicable, the animator may be required to travel to the location of where an accident or crime may have occurred. This is to obtain subsequent images and information that may not have been obtained or was not available in the existing scene materials or reports.

2. 3D Models - Recreating the scene assets.

Normally, it is very rare that a forensic animator can reuse the main 3D models in a scene. In the case of an automobile collision, there could be some "standard" 3D models reused such as a stop sign, traffic lights or electrical poles, but there are often times when even these smaller objects must also be built from scratch in order to obtain the highest level of realism.

There are typically three types of 3D models in a forensics animation. These are classified by their level of importance, accuracy and necessary level of detail. Primary objects are those that are directly involved in the animation. Think of them as your primary characters. Secondary objects are those which may not be directly involved, but their movement or relative position plays some part in making the animation accurate or credible. Tertiary objects are those which are strictly for the benefit of visualization and do not play a direct role in the animation. An example could be a tree off in the distance which would not affect the animation if it were removed except for the level of realism.

Creating accurate and realistic primary 3D models is still a time intensive task which has not changed very much over the years. The quality of the models and options associated with the level of realism are greater and therefore, there is an equivalent amount of time required to create the models. Where possible, it may be possible to purchase an existing 3D model and tailor it to suit the needs of the animation. This should only be done when the accuracy of the model is not a requirement and it may be a secondary or tertiary object in the scene.

In the case of a vehicle collision, the ground terrain is a good example of a large scale model which is required to be accurate and a true likeness of the actually area where the collision occurred.

Often, modeling may come from other sources such as CAD files, 3d scanning or photogrammetry. In each case, the model normally requires subsequent work to get the correct look or to adjust the surface topology of the object.

3. Mapping - Preparing and adjusting images

Although this could be classified as part of modeling, it is in fact a separate part of the 3D modeling process which involves the use of photo imaging software. If you were to consider a simple example of a stop sign, there is the geometrical portion of the model and there is the "textured" or "mapped" portion of the object. The red colour of the sign with the letters S-T-O-P is normally not modeled but need to be mapped. Mapping can be accomplished by taking an existing photo of the stop sign and extracting only the portion of the image that relates to the sign itself and not the background. In some cases, photos need not be used at all and the entire image map of the stop sign could be made with a program like Photoshop.

Since photos are often taken at various angles and depth of fields, the image needs to be rectified (i.e. any depth removed such that the image becomes orthographic or "flat") so that it can be pasted like a sticker onto the model.

However, in each case, there is a considerable amount of time committed to the process of editing photo images to extract usable maps for models and the more accurate, and realistic one wants their models to look, the more it will cost.

4. Assembling the Scene

Once all the scene objects have been created, there comes the task of assembling them accurately in the scene. Since accuracy is the single most differentiating point between any animation and a forensic animation, there is a considerable emphasis on the placement of objects and positioning of all the scene elements. In some cases, there are automated utilities to help the animator reduce the amount of time to place objects, but unfortunately, since each forensic animation is different, this is normally done through manual means. Hence, if there are many objects to be accurately placed in a scene, the amount of labour involved increases.

5. Animating the Scene

There are two ways to animate a scene. One is through the import of simulation data and the other is through keyframing. Keyframing is a manual technique where an object is fixed at a certain location at a certain time of the animation. At each point in the animation where the object is "fixed", this is called a keyframe. The 3D animation software interpolates between keyframes to distribute the motion.

A complex scene involving 5 or 6 vehicles would be more involved than a simple animation of 2 vehicles crashing since there are many more vehicles and positions to keep track of. Since there are many clients who request different collision scenarios, there may be several iterations or versions of the animation.

6. Lighting and Special Effects

Once the entire scene has been animated, this is normally the time to adjust the lighting and prepare any effects which might be required in the animation. When trying to replicate the exact lighting of a scene based on reference photos it can often be very difficult to achieve. Consider the range of lighting and weather conditions such as fog, rain, snow or night scenes.

When appropriate, it may be necessary to show breaking glass or skid marks. Creating accurate looking effects is a time consuming process. Normally, it is difficult to quantify something as "accurate" unless it is verified by an expert. For this reason, there could be several iterations of the lighting and special effects in order to match the expert's report/testimony.

7. Rendering

The act of rendering is how the 3D animation software converts the entire scene into a set of images which run (typically) at 30 frames per second. Depending on the complexity of the scene (i.e. complexity of items 1-6 above), a computer can render a single image at anywhere from a few seconds to an hour or more for each frame. Considering that a 1 minute animation has 1,800 frames, the time involved can be as little as 5 hours to 60 hours on a single computer.

Additionally, if there are 5 or 6 different views to be rendered and not taking any edits into account, the rendering portion can take a considerable amount of time.

Fortunately, many animators make use of either render farms (i.e. network of computers strung together that divide the work of rendering) or invest in high powered workstations. There are firms which specialize in providing rendering resources to animators and when a quick turnaround is required, this is an additional expense which is normally translated to the client.

Normally, rendering only makes up less than ten percent of the total cost of an animation. The actual time is dependent on the type of hardware used and this is part of the reason why companies have been moving away from quoting animations based on their length or dollar per second of completed footage.

8. Video Editing and Final Packaging

As the animation approaches the final stages of completion, the last few steps are the editing and compositing of the animation. The addition of any text, title screens, overlaying images and making any adjustments to the colour take additional time which is normally associated with how the animation is to be packaged and presented.

Most people today are finding that downloads and CD's are quite useful for viewing on a computer, however, if a client requests a self running DVD with menus and sound then this is obviously another involved step.

9. Changes and Edits

One of the most overlooked parts of creating a quality animation and avoiding constant changes is to ensure that clear objectives are understood by all parties up front.

Changing the animation half way through a project can substantially affect the total cost and may delay the delivery considerably. Knowing exactly what needs to be shown and limiting the number of edits keeps things on track and limits the risk of cost overruns.

The basic rule of thumb for the cost of a forensic animation is that as the level of detail, realism, accuracy and number of scenarios increases , so does the cost. A complex animation with many details means more preparation, production and verification hours for the animator.

A forensic animation can range widely from $3,000 to $30,000 depending on each of the factors explained above. There are no hard rules to pin down the price of an animation since each one is "custom built".

Be sure to get a clear idea of the costs by providing the initial case information to the animator. Most reputable forensic animators will supply an initial consultation at no cost in order to provide an accurate quotation or to tell you if an animation is even feasible. Also, ensure that clear objectives are set prior to embarking on a forensic animation. This will avoid unnecessary changes, increased cost and will keep projects on track.

Registry Cleaners Are a Must for Computer Users

For computer users around the world, perhaps nothing is more frightening -- or frustrating -- than a full-blown computer crash. While crashes happen for a variety of reasons, popular opinion states that risks can often be eliminated by using anti-virus software. True? Not necessarily.

According to Consumer Review, 95 percent of all window system crashes are caused by errors in a computer's registry function. Unfortunately, computer registries are also one of the most overlooked elements of a PC's maintenance needs. The reason for this is
simple -- most computer users simply dont know they even have a computer registry, let alone have the knowledge that it needs to be regularly maintained. Simply put, a computers registry is similar to the spinal cord in a human being; nearly everything that a computer does depends on the transportation of data through the registry. When a registry contains errors or becomes cluttered with unnecessary data, data transmission is restricted or impeded and leads to slow performance, unexpected shutdowns and/or system crashes.

Fortunately there are software programs designed specifically for the maintenance of a computers registry. Popularly known as registry cleaners, these programs scan a computers entire hard drive with the goal of identifying any errors in the registry. When a registry cleaner comes across an error, it isolates or eliminates the problem on its own -- no technical expertise or expensive technician assistance required. Thats not to say, however, that registry cleaners function perfectly every time theyre used. Incorrect alterations of registry material do occasionally occur, yet experts state that unwanted alterations are easily reversed. Most cleaner programs, in fact, offer backup and restore functions that allow a user to quickly and easily undo unwanted changes.

The process for obtaining and using registry cleaning software is extremely simple and straightforward for even the most novice of computer users. Most registry cleaners can be obtained online for a very modest price. Consumer Review, for example, lists its top 10 choices as costing between $29.95 and $39.95. Its important to note that registry cleaners are similar to anti-virus software in that they require a fixed-term membership in order to be used. In other words, the $29.95 that a user might pay to obtain a registry cleaner isnt a one-time fee -- after a set period of time (usually 60 days to one year) the service expires and the membership fee has to be repaid in order to continue use.

After a service is chosen and paid for, registry cleaners require little-to-no effort on behalf of the computer user. Although some registry cleaners require a user to manually run the program, most function on their own and perform regularly scheduled sweeps on a pre-set basis. When errors are detected, cleaners typically remove the problems themselves and require no input on the users behalf.

Based on the importance of proper registry function and the ease-of-use of registry cleaners, most experts strongly recommend computer users to purchase registry cleaners regardless of how often they use their computer. Considering that errors can pile up on a registry at a rate of over 100 per month, the clock is literally ticking towards a major crash for users who dont heed experts warnings.

Discover the best registry cleaners on the market. Have your computer running like brand new again in less than 15 minutes at an unbelievably low cost compared to expensive computer technicians.

History of Enamel Inlay

The artists of Russia have been practicing the arts of enamel and enamel inlay for several centuries now, and with a perfected quality. The Russian culture has long been enriched with the outstandingly elegant artistically talented hand-craftsmanship that can only be passed on down throughout the close knitted relations of one family member and artist to another.

Although, working with silver had long been a part of the Russian artist culture, the perfections of enamel and enamel inlay later came to hit perfection of techniques approximately around the 16th. Century. Enamel is a simplistic mixture within the overall scheme of things, when fully compared to the beauty of the final artistic outcome of detail, color, and shine. With only a fine powder and oil or water, and a cake or lump like mixture, the Russian artists had the beginnings of exquisite uniqueness of artistic expression to add to their beautiful silver artworks.

Enamel is a fascinating formation of artistic mediums, due to its ability for always being a steady and sturdy type of artistic material for the artists to work with. Enamel can be easily made into most any color imaginable, and the variations of uses, sizes and shapes are almost endless in the fine detail of mosaics that can be artistically hand-crafted. No matter if the artists are desiring the largest or the most intricate of expressive details, the artworks of enamel inlay has always been highly versatile within its variations of formations.

There are several enamel inlay techniques and applications, and many variation materials that the enamel mixture or even enamel pieces can be applied to. If the applying is done in the original fine power, oil or water mixture application, then there will usually be the most popular methods of covering the silver, or what ever other base material that it may enhance. Besides silver, enamel may be applied to glass artworks, pottery artworks, brick formations, and of course, the mediums of metal, such as silver, gold and copper, to only name a few variation metals.

Although each base material may need a slightly different procedure and heating process, the enamel process of silver enamel applications, and enamel inlay methods are what the Russian artisans are most infamous for when working with the arts of enamel. There are silver artwork beautifications of colorful enamels, and even precious jewels for the individual expressions that only the specialized artist could create. The wonders of enamel artworks have always been worth the investment, and especially for today's collectors, even a small collectible art piece is a must for adding to your home.

No-Flash Photography Using Available Light or Low Light Can Exact Rewarding Images Even Photo Art

Low-Light, Slow Shutter Speed, No Flash Photography!

This lighting challenge no longer needs to put fear into a photographer's heart. It's possible to get perfect photos with a digital SLR and a few simple techniques.

Sometimes a flash brings you sunlight and then there are times when using a flash just takes away the mood of the moment. At times light voids the image of emotion. Like an artist poised in front of a blank canvass, the photographer chooses light, color, texture and shape to portray their Photo Art to share with the world.

I love to capture candid, journalistic style images of people during highly emotive events such as weddings and milestone birthdays. Take my lead and sit or crouch in a corner, almost invisible to the subjects and capture a loving look, a comforting touch or a smile that lights up the room. To capture these candid images and maintain your anonymity, you have to be non-intrusive. Using a camera flash defeats that purpose. In fact, a flash can be quite annoying to the subjects as well as any others present.

Using a flash captures the moment and then stops the subject cold (to collect themselves) before going on. The flash is not conducive to spontaneity and a natural flow of action. Capturing the energy of a live band performance is always an exciting project. There is the uncertainty of lighting, obstruction by instruments, equipment and people, and not knowing how each song will bring out the emotions of the artists. Imagine the bad reception you would get if you, as the band photographer, started poppin' flashes during the performance! Oooouch! Now that would be a mood wrecker, wouldn't it?

In 'use the available light' situations you should be brave! Be bold! Shoot no-flash with confidence. Shoot without a tripod or unipod to stabilize the camera. Wow! Is this really possible? Yes my friend it is!

It is a real treat to shoot no-flash images with a digital SLR. I've taken thousands of images using the available light with my Canon D60 (an oldie but goodie in the digital camera world) with a number of different lenses :
  1. Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6
  2. Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 (a heavy lens but fast for low light and action shots)
  3. Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 (my all around on-camera lens).

I have achieved great results with all these lenses in low-light, no-flash situations. You can achieve this with film, but with digital you get to instantly view the shot and can make adjustments to create some funky photo art. Plus with a digital SLR you can use the rapid fire feature and guarantee that one of the images will be perfect. And the no developing, no negatives means no cost for snapping a lot of digital images. Play the odds!

A few tips that will make the odds work in your favor:
  1. set your ISO speed to 400 or Higher - I shoot at ISO 400
  2. set Drive Mode to continuous shooting you'll be using rapid fire often
  3. use Tv (shutter priority) or M (Manual Exposure) - experiment using both shutter modes
  4. use both Auto Focus and Manual Focus on your lens remember Auto Focus sometimes is too slow to work properly in low-light environments
  5. you will be free-shooting at aperture speeds of 1/20 to 1/8 or lower. Use one of these camera stabilizing techniques: 1) elbows/arms on stable surface even if it is your knee or thigh; 2) arms tight to body and, my favorite; 3) don't breathe when snapping images

Now the fun begins. You will be constantly adjusting aperture speeds and focus every time you point your lens or your subject moves or the light changes. But don't stop shooting!

I have found that if I bring the aperture speed down to where the camera indicates you don't need a flash (1/15), I will shoot multiple photos at that speed and then also shoot some at 1/20 and 1/10. Remember to meter on the subject not the light. You will be surprised at the different colors and emotions you capture by manually bracketing the shots this way. Again, experiment. Have fun! Keep moving around. Get a lot of close-up shots. Use the light source that comes from where ever or what ever (e.g. stage lights, candlelight, window light, flash light, fire light). Take lots of pictures. Move around your subject(s). Take more pictures. This is just too much fun!

At these slow aperture speeds you will get some blur. This effectively captures motion and adds an very artistic touch to your photos.

Couple your ability to frame a shot with the post production capabilities of Picasa by Google, and you will create some incredible Foto Art.

Low light? No problem!

What is 3D Modeling?

3D Modeling is the creation, manipulation, and storage of geometric objects to represent objects that are all around us or virtual objects. The process begins with the use of specialized 3d software. The 3D artist develops a mathematical, wireframe representation of the object using specialized software. The final product is called a 3D model.

The 3d modeling process for 3D computer graphics is similar to sculpting. During this process geometric data is manipulated and prepared manually or automatically. There are three methods for creating and representing a 3d model. They are: polygonal, NURBS, and Splines and Patched.

Polygonal uses vertices that are connected to form a polygonal mesh. Because they are polygonal, curved surfaces are approximated by using many small flat surfaces. The vast majority of 3D models today are built as textured polygonal models, because they are the most flexible and quickest for the computer to handle. Polygonal 3d models can be categorized as high polygonal and low polygonal models depending on the density of the polygonal mesh. Low poly 3d models are preferred for 3d games and simulations as they tend to require less computing power.

NURBS 3d modeling uses NURBS surfaces. NURBS are truly smooth surfaces, not approximations using small flat surfaces, like polygonal. They are best suited for complex forms and organic modeling. NURBS surfaces are defined geometrically by spline curves, which in turn are influenced by weighted control points. The curve follows these weight control points, so increasing the weight of a point will pull the curve closer to that point and vice-versa.

Splines and Patches 3D modeling depend on curved lines to define the visible surface. When using this method the 3d modeling stage consists of shaping individual objects that are later used in the scene. There are a number of techniques including: constructive solid geometry, implicit surfaces, and subdivision surfaces.

Modeling can be performed by means of a dedicated 3d software program or an application component or some scene description language. In some cases, there is no strict distinction between these phases; in such cases modeling is just part of the scene creation process.

Complex materials are modeled using particle systems. A Particle system is a mass of 3D coordinates which have points, polygons, texture splats, or sprites assigned to them. Materials that are modeled using particle systems include smoke, blowing sand, clouds, and liquid sprays.

Once the 3d model is done, the 3D artist may begin the process of 3D rendering for visual representation in 2D or use the 3d model for an animation. Also, the 3D model can be used for other applications including computer simulation of physical phenomena. The 3d model can also be physically created using 3D printing via rapid prototyping techniques. When 3d printing is used, the 3d object is created connecting layers of cross sections of material.

Playstation 3 Pre-Order Madness

Every couple of years, new gaming software hits the market. Usually it hits the market right before Christmas, which is a nightmare for parents; as almost every kid on the planet is in a "receiving" mood rather than a giving one. This means that many kids will see the game console and their eyes will light up like fireworks. Well, the same thing is going to happen again this year. On November 17th, 2006, the Playstation 3 is going to hit stores everywhere. That means electronic stores all throughout the US are going to turn into madhouses. Why is that? Well, its a little thing called supply and demand. It wouldn't be that big a deal if there was plenty of Playstation 3s to go around, but sadly that is not the case and there is going to be far fewer console systems than people. A low amount of gaming systems and a high amount of needy customers always yields the same result, and that result is not good.

After all, the same thing happened with the XBOX 360 last November, short supply and high demand. Even though that system cost $400, it didn't stop people from getting in line to buy one. Even if that line was 2 to 3 blocks long. Well, the Playstation 3 is priced at $600 and there is no doubt that the same scenario will ensue, if not a worse one.

If you feel that you need to get a PS3, then you undoubtedly want to get on a pre-order list as fast as possible. However, there is a problem with that task. The Playstation 3 release is only about a month away from release, and since the release of this colossal gaming system has been known by gamers for several months now, it may be too late.

It "may" be too late because it is only a few weeks away from the release of the Playstation 3, which means many store pre-order lists are already going to be filled to the brim. Thats not to say you won't get a PS3 on November 17th, but getting one without being on a pre-order list is one heck of an accomplishment, and to some a nearly impossible feat. Besides that, every day that you waste just "thinking" about getting on a pre-order list means you're that much farther away from actually obtaining a Playstation 3. The faster you act, the more chances you have.

So what can be done to get on a list? Plenty! Just because there are lots of people who want a Playstation 3, does not mean that every pre-order list is going to be full. In order to get a PS3 on the release date, you are going to have to ask around at quite a few different stores. Obviously, your going to ask the basic questions, such as "Are you selling Playstation 3s?", "Do you have a Pre-order list?", "How many people are on the list before me?", etc. But, many people fail to ask the other important questions, like: "How many PS3s shipments are you going to receive this month? What about next month?" and "When is your next Playstation 3 shipment?". Yeah, its true that not all stores will give out that specific information, but there is going be plenty of stores that will gladly give you any and all information you need.

If you do get on a pre-order list, don't stop there. The more lists you are on, the more chance you have of obtaining a PS3 on release day, or before Christmas (which is the goal of most). Although, they are called "pre-order" lists, that doesn't necessarily mean that the lists will vanish after the release day. Most of these lists will last until Christmas, and/or usually a month or two after. If people drop off the list, or do not have the money to buy the PS3 when their "time" is called, they move down and you move up. Enough drop-outs on a list and you might even get a PS3 sooner than you expected.

Theres no doubt about it, its going to be a hectic day for stores and shoppers on November 17th, 2006. But if you take precautions and do a bit of research, the joys of a Playstation 3 will undoubtedly be yours on its launch date. Then again, you could always just wait 3-4 months and get one when the PS3 craze dies down; but thats up to you and how devoted of a PS3 fan you actually are.

Field Hockey

The game of field hockey dates back to 4000 years. It is basically a ball and stick game, and there are historical records of this game in Ireland, Scotland, Egypt, and South America.

A field hockey stick is usually 31 to 38 inches long, and has a round handle. It also has a bent end that is curved on one side and plane on the other. It is used for pushing, dribbling, and striking a ball. A hockey stick is conventionally carved of wood, covered with fiberglass, but contemporary sticks are also made of Kevlar and composite plastics. It is available in three weight categories namely light, medium, and heavy. It is advisable for a player to choose weight and length according to his or her own comfort. Hockey sticks are available for right-handed players, and left-handed players, as they have to rotate a stick hook by 180. Grips of sticks may be made of porous suede, or rubber, and a stick may cost $30 and above, depending on its quality. A hockey ball is made of toughened plastic, and may cost $5 on an average.

Mostly, synthetic nylon is used for making goal-nets that are of size 3.66 meter by 2.1 meter. Nets have galvanized steel rods that can be folded for storage. Goal-frames have prices of about $400, excluding nets.

Field hockey players generally wear hockey jerseys, shorts, and socks, all made of a synthetic substance such as nylon. Their safety gear includes leg, shin, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guards, jockstraps, and turf shoes. It is mandatory for a goalkeeper to wear full-body safety gear, including helmet with face net, mouth guard, throat protector, chest protector with elbow pads, wrist guards, leg pads with knee guards, shin guards, and turf shoes. These all things are generally made of plastic, rubber, or fiberglass.

Field hockey is one of the most admired games in the world. Many countries have their own teams that play various matches worldwide.

3D Models For Use in Geological Modeling

Geological modeling serves the purpose of creating 3D models of sections of the earths crust. These 3D models are unique as they can be created with different types of simulations of rocks, even the types of cells within the rocks. 3D models allow seismologists to predict certain events within the crust of the earth from shifting plates to eroding areas of the crust, or new growth within certain areas.

The grid surfaces within the programs are created with diverse polygons representing different structures and types of surfaces. These geological models are created using polygonal modeling using a meshed shell to create a surface that has been triangulated for the specific area.

3D geological modeling incorporates many other aspects of the field, including; diagenesis, structural geology, paleoclimatology and sedimentology.

Oil and Gas industries use these models to determine how the ground will react when the drills are inserted. These models are used to plan for any disturbances that may occur, as well as any weak points within the crust that could cause difficulty. If an accident were to occur, the 3D model allows the engineers to determine a plan of action for a variety of outcomes that may occur.

3D geological models are also used to complete valuable calculations for use in geostatistics. Many times, geologists are unable to calculate what is within the rock or within the crust at certain areas and therefore it is important to have software that can calculate these variables. This data is not available on regular grids and therefore must be estimated in the most effective manner.

Many popular software systems have been developed to create these 3D geologic 3D models; Roxar, Paradigm and Jewelsuite are only a sample of the programs available. These powerful software systems are able to display and calculate parameters required for many professionals involved in Earth Sciences.

Why Not Make Registry Backup For Better PC Protection

When people browse websites and download things online, there will be evidence left in the registry of PCs. To avoid possible threat to our computers which may cause the loss of private information, people tend to backup registry and fix the problem of registry by recovering it to the previous status.

There are many ways to backup the registry. Usually people would like to make the backup manually: Start/Run,enter Regedit/right-click My Computer/select export/copy and save in (usually) C:Document and Settings User Name Or Start/Run, enter Regedit/right-click My Computer/select Config under System32/copy and save files named Sam, System, Software, Default and relevant log files/save in C:Document and Settings User Name The problem is that it is always difficult for one to supervise the registry manually and make necessary backups as soon as possible.

As a result, more people tend to turn to some programs so as to simplify the operation. These programs will provide constant supervision over the registry and report when there is any potential problems. But a lot of them will take up a large space and do not help to backup the registry. I myself am using a program named advanced PC tweaker which takes up a small space and functions effectively. It provides a constant supervision and helps to backup the registry in two methods. First, it allows users to backup the registry as a whole. The users can recover the registry to the previous status with this backup. Second, any time when any changes are made to the registry, the program will backup and make a record. This program makes my backup of the registry easier.

2D Versus 3D Modeling Methods

Many times, modelers use a combination of 3D and 2D modeling techniques in the creation of a 3D model. With the combination of these methods, we receive the easy rendering processes that come with 3D model creation, and the ease in creating models that come with 2D model creation processes.

There are three main benefits to using 3D models, rather than 2D models. One, 3D models are flexible and can be changed or animated quickly, with quicker rendering time. Rendering time refers to the amount of time that it takes to give a model life, or animate it. Which brings us to the second benefit to using 3d models, this ease of rendering allows to physically create the model, rather than having to imagine the effects? Next, the accuracy is discussed. 3D models create an accuracy that cannot be created with 2D models. If a builder or a designer is able to picture the object or design in which they are building and consult with the rendering throughout the creation process, this ensures less mistakes are going to be made in the creation of the model.

Aside from these benefits come the disadvantages of creating 3D models, these are: the difficulty and practice that it takes a model to create lifelike models. Some of these effects are difficult to learn, and techniques mean additional time spent learning the software and creating the 3D model.

The significant differences that arise between the two forms of modeling are: the space in which the object is defined, and the ability to render such things as perspective, shadow and lighting, as well as other photo realistic effects.

In some professions, such as the medical profession, 2D models have been preferred in x-rays and other diagnostic forms because of the simplification that comes with reading the results, and abstract information can be difficult to detect within 3D models, therefore making representations difficult to create, and even more difficult to read!

Spline Modeling

Spline modeling, as with each other form, begins with the shape created, that will create the bottom of the object. As well, with each other form, the method is used to create 3D objects used within video games.

Spline modeling is one of the premier types of 3D modeling, one of the most effective, which is able to create complex curves using weighted points (referred to as vertices) on a line. This line is represented as curving, because of these weighted points. 3D modelers are able to change the visualization of the line be increasing or decreasing the weight on each of the curves.

Splines and patches modeling use these curved lines to create the appearance of the surface of the 3D model. For this reason, spline modeling methods are best when creating organic models such as people, vehicles with sleek and curved lines, and models organs which are used in medical practices.

There are two types of models that can be created using the spline modeling techniques, solid and shell. Solid 3D models and shell 3d models differ in the fact that solid models are created like a rock, and define the structure through the interior of the 3D model. Solid models are time consuming, and require additional methods when being used. On the contrary, shell models are created to represent the surface of the object, and not the volume. Most video game models use shell type of modeling, as there is no need to define the interior volume.

Spline modeling is most similar to the second type of modeling, NURBS modeling, which also uses genuinely curved lines to create 3D models. Using these curved lines ensures that the model will truly have a genuine appearance to its inspiration. In contrast, polygonal modeling using series of tiny lines to create the appearance of a curved line, but one of the disadvantages of this type of modeling, is that the line will never really curve, regardless of the amount of lines used to create the structure.

The Utah Teapot - the First 3D Model

The Utah Teapot is an integral part of the 3D model history and creation. For this reason, we recognize it as one of the first 3D models. Did you know that the Utah Teapot has been present in a variety of animated films which incorporate 3D models? The teapot appears solid, convex, and cylindrical throughout the teapot.

It was created at the University of Utah for the modeling and graphic design program, and has moved its way to becoming a standard reference in the world of 3D models. At its time, it was thought to be a complex 3D model, for the technology available at that time, after all, it was in 1975.

The cylindrical shape of the teapot meant easy translation from a rough sketch by the artist, Martin Newell, as an inspiration from his wife after she was having tea. Newell is a pioneer of the graphics program at the Utah, and sketched the teapot from eye, while sitting down to tea with his wife. After finishing the sketch, and edited the control points on the teapot. The saddle points, and the lighting used to create a shadow around the teapot, increase the illusion of the teapot being a real item.

Decades later, the teapot remained the inspiration for many 3D models, of different renditions and textures. Free versions of the teapot are available all over the internet, in the many different renditions. Although many free 3D models are available on the internet, the Utah teapot is available as one of the first models, and lead to the development of other household goods, and models.

Compact Refrigerators - Getting the Best Deal

If you're currently in the market to buy a small refrigerator or a kitchen sized refrigerator, I'm going to tell you how you can get the best deal for your money. Many people don't know about this strategy but it does work and it can save you a ton compared to the local appliance stores.

Start your search in the appliance store

The first thing you're going to want to do is head up to your appliance store. You're going to want to know exactly what you want. When browsing through the store, mark down the information and ask all the questions you can about the particular refrigerator. The key here is that you won't want to buy it but instead, we are going to search online.

Start looking online

Now that you have all your questions answered as well as the model number, you're going to want to search for the model online. Start looking at price comparison sites to see where you can get the best deal. Look for free shipping offers and any other offers that might come with it. You'll be amazed at how much you can save just by going online. This is why it's important to research in person and buy online.

When you finally find the model and you're ready to buy, look for great deals. Sometimes you may find that you can sign up for a credit card and get 10%. My rule of thumb is if you can save more than $100 with the credit card offer, do it! You have nothing to lose. Even if you can pay in cash, sign up for the card and pay it off.
